In order to see hidden folders, open Finder and hold and press the key. This repository attempts to modernize the DOSBox codebase by using current. If you don't have a shortcut to your Home folder, it is under Users/"current users name"/Library/Preferences. It saves it in the Users Home folder in a "hidden" Library folder. DOSBox does not save it's config file here. DOSBox Staging is the fork of the original emulator with an aim to modernize it and give it some more advanced features, with the latest release out now. (Anyone care to help me understand the "/Library" -vs- "~/Library" thing?)ĮDIT: When I was using "Finder" I was (more precisely) looking at my disks root folder under System/Library/Preferences. Hopefully this will help the next "casual" Mac user who's dipping their toes into system files. Oddly - If I use "Spotlight Search" to look for "DOSBox 0.74-3-3 Preferences", it comes up empty handed.

Editing this file's "fullscreen=true" option shows me this is the file my DOSBox is using. DOSBox Staging is a full x86 CPU emulator (independent of host architecture), capable of running DOS programs that require real or protected mode. However when I use "Spotlight Search" and type "~/Library/Preferences", I can then find a file named "DOSBox 0.74-3-3 Preferences" (Matching the DOSBox version I'm using).

When I use "Finder" to go to the /Library/Preference folder there is nothing for DOSBox.
Dosbox staging Pc#
Sucks to be an old PC guy trying to use a Mac. When I try to use the command -writeconf it says that it is an illegal command. It opens the Config tool, with options for -writeconf or -writelang. When I run the command ' ' it doesn't create a config file like the previous post said it would.

I even found an old post in this Reddit and didn't have any luck. But I have done all the usual searching and cannot seem to find a fix. Thanks for any help, sorry in advance if this is just me missing something obvious. I also tried to generate a new config file in dosbox via 'config -writeconf nf' but I just get back 'can't open file nf'.Ĭan I just create the folder I need in the /library/ if so where do I get the content? On my mac the ~/Library/Preferences/DOSBox 0.74 Preferences folder is not present, there is nothing in /library/ related to dosbox at all. I've got DOSBox installed and have a config file ready to run that's customized for the game, but I can't find the DOSBox 0.74 Preferences file anywhere on my machine. I'm new to DOSBox and am trying to get MechWarrior 2 running on Mac OSX.
